Interior decoration can seem very complicated, but not with these ideas that will completely change the way you decorate your home.
Sometimes you don’t need radical changes to completely change the decor of a house, nor a big budget, quite the opposite. There are small changes you can implement overnight that will add a very special touch to any room.
If you’ve already looked at your room several times and you don’t know what to do with the decoration in it, don’t worry, because we’ve put together the best changes you can make now to renew the look of your favorite room.
Decorate a wall with the world map
I’m sure there’s a rolled-up world map “out there in a corner”, which has never had a great purpose over time. Now, this is the ideal opportunity to shake off the dust and use it in a very original way.
You can paste the world map on a portion of the wall, as you would, for example, in a kitchen, or choose to arrange several copies and cover an entire wall with all the countries and continents in the world.
This is a perfect idea especially for travel lovers, who easily identify with a decoration of this kind and the truth is that there are several ways to put a world map covering a wall.
You can do it without a rule and simply go on pasting the sheets on top of each other or, then, arrange the map at a larger scale that allows you to identify all the elements of the globe. That way, you can even mark the countries/cities you’ve already visited.
Lamps don’t have to be all the same
When we think of lamps , whether they are standing or table lamps, it is impossible not to think of an object that is always very similar from example to example. There is a part of the lamp that supports the lamp and, therefore, the lampshade, and little else.
It is true that, nowadays, there are already several “out of the box” options that bet on styling and end up giving a different decorative touch to at least one of the parts that build the lamp (be it the support or the higher). But it is also true that these accessories tend to be substantially more expensive.
However, and as we bet that the lamps you have at home belong to the more “conventional” family, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this article, we want to give you a customization tip that will give more originality to your lighting objects.
Why don’t you put, for example, a textured paper around the base of the lamp? Instead, you can place raffia around that stand, or buy a lamp of a different color and shape. It all depends on your creativity and the elements that already decorate your space.
Paint the walls, door frames and/or baseboards
Depending on the house you live in, each of the options mentioned above is valid (and even all of them, if you like). In fact, painting the interior of a house is one of the most affordable, easiest and fastest ideas to do.
So, although wall painting may seem obvious, the truth is that not all people use it to make a change in home decor. As such, it is important that we remind you of this and that we also say that you can do the same with door frames and wall skirtings (if you have them).
Try painting the walls with a light gray and the moldings/skirting in white, for example. Try to visualize the change and see if you identify with it before applying any paint.
Use wallpaper
Using wallpaper is one of the cheapest and easiest decorating ideas to apply, and the truth is that it allows for different decorations because you can cover all the walls of a room or choose to put the wallpaper on a single wall.
This is a very implemented change in divisions such as the master bedroom, where it is usual to see a different wallpaper (and irreverent) placed behind the headboard of the bed .
Of course, this is an idea that can be applied anywhere and the possibilities are immense. You can choose papers with geometric shapes and neutral colors that blend in with the space, or choose monochromatic options that add something to the decor you already have.
Hang shelves
This is an idea that can be applied in any division. You can put shelves on the walls of the room to place books and/or decorative objects, just as you can do it in the bedroom or office.
Although valid, the truth is that these are not completely original ideas. Therefore, we challenge you to place shelves, for example, in the kitchen so that you can place and organize the spices you use for cooking. The same applies to other kitchen utensils that you prefer to have “in view” rather than being stored in a drawer.
