Professional Marina Carvalho details the characteristics that accompany each style and gives tips on how to adopt them in the home. Among so many choices that must be made by the resident for the execution of the residential project, there is one that is essential and that configures itself as the starting point for the renovation or construction: the definition of the architectural and decorative style of the property.
1- Contemporary Style
In a contemporary style, this apartment offers practicality and comfort. In the dining room integrated with the living room, the ‘L’ with the German corner around the table allowed for the use of space and more seating. With regard to colors, the property received a neutral base and stronger tones – in a timely manner –, as the essence of this décor calls for.
It is from this reference that the responsible professional can work on defining the colors, materials, coverings, furniture and objects that will be part of the composition of each room, always thinking about the unity of the décor proposal.
2- Wooden Style
In this project, the architect Marina Carvalho adopted a more contemporary approach: the space where the living room is located received a wooden brise, in the same shade as the TV rack and panel, which allows for expansion and integration with other environments. With the green furniture, the fit gained a touch of modernity and coziness.
However, with so many facets and perspectives that interior architecture can offer, how does this identification of style happen? In general terms, everything meets the lifestyle, personality, references and dreams that future residents carry within themselves, as well as the needs that need to be met so that, in full, after it is ready, there is a sense of well-being and belonging to the address.
3- Modern Apartment
In this modern apartment, neutral and earthy colors are present to make the place even more pleasant. Natural materials, such as woodwork, in addition to providing comfort, make the environment lighter. As a result, residents experience a frugal, yet current and authentic atmosphere.
In this regard, the architect is a key player in understanding the owner’s wishes and ideas, as well as guiding them. According to the architect Marina Carvalho , a good conversation helps to understand the points of what bothers the residents and the results they are looking for.
“The interaction I carry out with them is much deeper than, at first, one might imagine. I like to dive into the dynamics of everyday life, knowing what time they go to bed and wake up, the professional activity they do and their hobbies, for example”, he reveals.
4- Rustic Style
Rustic attributes can be mixed with other designations to give an up-to-date feel to the home. In this apartment, the brick wall provided a beautiful counterpoint to the delicate joinery of the furniture and shelves.
For her, this immersion allows her work to develop solutions that respond to the way of life and that is not always remembered by clients in initial conversations. “The more we delve into the lines of each person’s story, the project will reach a sine qua non resolution . And this is a great pleasure!”, he adds.
Understanding the concepts of each decorative profile
In order to help those who want to define a decor to call their own, the architect listed the most adopted styles in current architecture, mentioning colors, materials and elements related to each one. Check out:
5- Contemporary style
For those looking for a functional decoration, the contemporary line is the most suitable. Its composition allows the application of current trends, leaving the house with a more up-to-date look , as well as choices based on comfort, aiming at the warmth and well-being of the family.
For Marina, the aesthetics of this style have a strong connection with technology. Thus, automation can be part of complementing the use of luminaires in spaces, as well as opening shutters, for example.
“As they are items that adapt well to the current way of life, they are options that go well in all spaces according to their specific proportions and uses”, he completes.
In the contemporary decor, neutral colors such as black, white, gray and pastel tones are very present in order to give visibility to environments and make them even more sophisticated. For those who like bright colors, yellow and green are perfect for inserting a contrast effect in the applied places.
6- Minimalism
Gaining more and more space in Brazilian homes, the minimalist style prioritizes the mix between a few elements , leaving the rooms visually cleaner.
With this, the decor is composed only of essential items chosen for the functionality and aesthetics that it will perform in the context of the project. That said, the minimalist style is based on sobriety, where everything is very simple and each piece of furniture or object declares a real reason to be in that environment.
For residents who embrace minimalism, the house should be a haven of peace and tranquility.
“Without a doubt, in the modus operandi of minimalism, ‘less is more’. The secret is to bet on uncomplicated shapes and pieces that, at the same time, combine decoration and utility. Bright lighting is also a good tip for those who identify with the genre”, emphasizes the architect.
7- Modern style
The modern decor combines a bit of minimalism and contemporary through clean lines and straight shapes. Along with this, applicability of decisions, natural materials and neutral and earthy colors are essential, as in the other two styles.
Generally, adherents of this style declare their preference for uncomplicated and well-organized rooms, dispensing with excess furniture and decorative objects. According to Marina, to make the house even more modern, it is interesting to invest in a good lighting project in the rooms.
“In addition to natural light, which should be very present, we adopt LED lamps in joinery or in mirrors – a component often used to expand environments and which makes everything even more elegant”, he says.
She also adds that this proposal favors the technology through the insertion of metallized products and other resources that make everyday life easier, such as automation.
8- Classic style
For being timeless, the classic is always on the rise in projects, offering refinement and elegance to homes.
Contrary to the modern, it is characterized by the imposing furniture, materials and fabrics. Thus, wood and marble with detailed designs are extensively explored in the project and the furniture follows the concept of robust pieces, but with a delicate design, reminding old furniture.
Regarding the color palette, a mix of dark and medium tones receive bronze, gold and silver brushstrokes , in order to add refinement to the environments.
This fusion favors the yellowish lighting with items that refer to a bygone era, more robust chandeliers, chandeliers, lamps and silk lampshades. For the professional, the secret is not to go too far, since luxury does not match with excess details and the result is a tiring project.
“The mixture of classic and other styles can provide a very interesting result”, he says.
9- Rustic
Finally, the rustic concept is marked by coziness , above all by the insertion of natural materials such as stone, wood, straw and copper, among other materials that lend their simplicity and lightness to the decor. In addition, there is also the affective memory, transmitting nostalgic and affective sensations to the residents, as if it were a country house.
But the rustic is not tied to the peasant essence: it can very well merge with the modern and the contemporary. “At this junction, we can also bet on burnt cement, brick and warm colors, drawing on earth tones. Another tip is the presence of plants arranged in the environments”, he concludes.
